This classic one day trip let you immerse yourself in the astonishing surroundings of Luang Prabang and it’s cultural and natural beauties.
In the morning we will start by heading south and visit the famous Kuang Si waterfall, where you can have a dip in crystal clear water. We will have a picnic lunch on the river and also visit the Buffalo Diary Farm. During the whole day you will be rewarded with scenic views over the Mekong, local villages and rice fields
After lunch we will visit the Buddha caves – to the locals one of the most important cultural sites . Pak Ou Caves are home to thousands (4000+) Buddha statues, located on the rocky cliff with faces overlooking to the Mekong river. Those Buddha images follow various of positions such as meditation, peace and nirvana. Most of the statues were made of wood; and the rest of them were made of resin, even earthenware and animal bones.
In the afternoon we will also visit a village famous for its “Lao Whiskey” production where you will have in introduction in the distilling process and get an understanding of its cultural importance to the locals. During the day you will have occasions to cool yourself off and have a dip. Whether at the Kuang Si fall or in front of the cliffs at the Nam Ou River – just make sure you bring a swimming suit along!
